He serves Seattle, Portland and beyond. Dennis performs regularly at corporate events, weddings, private parties, lounges, wine bars, restaurants and festivals. He has performed in venues such as the Silver Legacy Resort Casino (Reno, NV), Benson Hotel, McCaw Hall at the Seattle Center, the Seattle Aquarium, Hilton Portland, University of Washington, Argosy Cruises, VIRGINIA V Historic Ship and Antioch University. Dennis has had the honor of performing for distinguished clients such as Oregon Senator Rick Metsger, Seattle City Council member Jan Drago, Tacoma Mayorial Candidate Jim Merritt, Intel and Hewlett-Packard.
Dennis mostly plays timeless jazz and Brazilian standards. Dennis can also play traditional wedding music or learn requests from other genres. Dennis' music has been described as "upbeat, seductive and relaxing". Dennis works some of the finest jazz musicians in the northwest. Whether it's a solo, duo or trio performance, clients can expect quality, memorable experiences. Dennis also composes, arranges, teaches guitar privately and presents jazz guitar clinics.
Dennis earned a Bachelor of Music (jazz guitar performance) from Cornish College of the Arts. As a Cornish student, Dennis studied with notable jazz artists such as Chuck Deardorf, Dawn Clement, Julian Priester and Jovino Santos Neto. Dennis earned multiple talent-based scholarships and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
There are several unique aspects of Dennis' playing that set him apart. A fingerstylist, Dennis has a gorgeous tone and he plays the seven-string guitar. Dennis has a strong harmonic sense and his voicings are unique among guitarists. His ability to combine melodies, chords and bass lines makes Dennis a perfect fit for solo and small ensemble performances. His playing style is very lyrical and his sound is warm and engaging. Dennis' music works great as background ambience for events and also as a main attraction.
