Dennis Moss is a jazz guitarist and bandleader serving the Pacific Northwest and beyond. He performs regularly at corporate events, weddings, private parties, lounges, wine bars, restaurants and festivals. Dennis has performed in venues such as McCaw Hall at the Seattle Center, the Seattle Aquarium, 911 Federal Building, University of Washington South Campus Center, VIRGINIA V Historic Ship and Antioch University. Dennis has had the honor of performing for distinguished clients such as Seattle City Council member Jan Drago and Tacoma Mayorial Candidate Jim Merritt.
Dennis offers professional solo and ensemble (duo-quartet) performances. His music has been described as "upbeat, seductive and relaxing". Dennis works with some of the area's best jazz musicians and clients can expect quality, memorable experiences. Besides leading his own groups and performing as a soloist, Dennis composes, arranges, teaches guitar privately (in the Portland area or anywhere online via live webcam) and presents jazz guitar clinics.
Dennis earned a Bachelor of Music (jazz guitar performance) from Cornish College of the Arts. As a Cornish student, Dennis studied with notable jazz artists such as Chuck Deardorf, Dawn Clement, Julian Priester and Jovino Santos Neto. Dennis earned multiple talent-based scholarships and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
There are several unique aspects of Dennis' playing that set him apart. A fingerstylist, Dennis has a gorgeous tone and he plays the seven-string guitar. Dennis has a strong harmonic sense and his voicings are unique among jazz guitarists. His ability to take on multiple roles simultaneously (combining melody, harmony and bass lines) makes Dennis a perfect fit for small ensemble and solo performances. His playing style is very lyrical and his sound is warm and engaging. Dennis' music works great as background ambiance for events and also as a main attraction.
